Parramatta, typical of Western Sydney, can generate its own community energy, its own innovations and our own reasons for visiting and/or doing business here; in fact we must.
It is just a little too easy to criticise governments for not recognising our needs or responding to our requests. We cannot simply say, "we need" or that we are "open for business", these are choruses for deaf ears. Governments respond to winners and there is no more popular conveyance than a "band wagon".
So we are compelled to get on with the job ourselves. The Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence (WSABE) are now firmly established as the major business event in Western Sydney, attracting support, sponsorship and recognition from outside our area. Parramasala has just, once again, brought the cultural diversity of our city and region together for a great celebration that puts the spotlight on Parramatta. Each February, The Asia Business Connection (in Parramatta) conducts the high profile Lunar New year Dinner and, like the Chamber, the Western Sydney Business Connection, attracts quality speakers to events throughout the year.
Parramatta has the business community infrastructure in place; now we need to take the next steps together to identify and generate projects that will benefit our region and attract the resources to make them happen.
